The 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit

The Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, hosted a Special Summit to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN-Australia Dialogue Relations. The Special Summit, held on 4-6 March 2024 in Melbourne, Australia, brought together Australian and ASEAN Leaders and provided a unique opportunity to advance shared policy interests, deepen networks across the region, and strengthen cooperation.

Asialink was a delivery partner for the Emerging Leaders Dialogue, one of the summits 5 tracks. Asialink engaged 65 emerging leaders from across ASEAN, Australia and Timor Leste in an interactive 2 ½ day program. Activities focused on addressing key challenges facing our reigon and developing new connections amongst the participant cohort. Key speakers included Former Foreign Minister Mr Gareth Evans AC, Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr Kao Kim Hourn, Assistant Minister for Health and Aged Care The Hon. Ged Kearney MP and Special Envoy to Southeast Asia Mr Nicholas Moore AO.
