Victorian Young Leaders: Global Youth Forums 2023
Connecting Year 9 Students Across Victoria and Asia-Pacific
This program is an initiative of the Victorian Department of Education and Training and facilitated by Asia Education Foundation at the University of Melbourne. It is an interactive three-part online learning program for students in Year 9 Victorian schools to connect with peers from a range of schools and countries across the Asia-Pacific including; China, Thailand, Japan, India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines. The forums are designed to deepen student understanding of identity, belonging, culture, globalisation, and what it means to be a global citizen.
In November 2022, 1000 students, 500 from 50 Victorian schools and 500 from 50 international schools from 10 countries participated synchronously in the forums.
The three forum events included guest speakers, collaborative learning activities, and numerous breakout room opportunities to meet peers from a range of Victorian and Asia-Pacific schools to discuss global citizenship.
The forums will be delivered twice in 2023.
