Nuclear Risks in Asia and the Pacific

Join Asialink Chair and former Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Peter Varghese AO FAIIA in conversation with the Professor the Hon. Gareth Evans AC KC FASSA FAIIA, former Minister for Foreign Affairs, to discuss the state of the nuclear security environment in Asia and the Pacific and the opportunities for Australian nuclear diplomacy to help manage those risks.

Our speakers will provide an overview of the history of nuclear armed states, current global nuclear risks, and implications for Australia as a country of the region and what, if anything it might be able to do to help manage these risks through more active Australian nuclear diplomacy. The preliminary information discussed in this initial webinar will serve as an anchor for the subsequent discussions in the series.
