Asialink China Think Tank Roundtable

China Think Tank meeting

Asialink and The Chinese Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy engaged in a roundtable dialogue to discuss the warming of the China-Australia bilateral relationship, and the implications for business, media and government sectors.

Discussions focused on a moving forward of bilateral relations. Both parties acknowledged the need for adaptation in the context of the changing international order. The dialogue highlighted means of trust-building between the two countries – namely the meeting between Anthony Albanese and Xi Jinping, the return of foreign correspondents into China and increased casual visitation and tourism. Moreover, discussions reinforced how increased trust and stability between the two countries would underscore greater confidence in business and trade. All delegates agreed that, from an economic perspective, there is significant mutual benefit to be gained from collaboration.

The delegates for Asialink were Asialink Group CEO Martine Letts, Asialink Business CEO Leigh Howard, Asialink Senior Advisors Professor Louise Edwards, John McCarthy AO, and Colin Heseltine, On Kit Tam from the University of Melbourne, Baogang He from Deakin University and Jean Dong from the Asia Institute. The delegates for China were Feng Wei, Liu Xinghua and Chen Yinlong from the Chinese Institute for Innovation and Development Strategy
