For too long, Australia and Vietnam have underestimated the potential to enhance two-way tourism. New research from the 'Strengthening Australia-Vietnam Tourism Cooperation' report highlights untapped opportunities for both countries.
Despite the setbacks caused by the pandemic, Vietnam's tourism sector is bouncing back strongly, with international tourism on track to reach 18 million visitors by the end of 2024. The Vietnamese market is Australia's fastest growing market for inbound visitation. By 2028, Tourism Research Australia predicts an extra 110,300 international arrivals from Vietnam annually, a 65% increase over current figures. This presents a significant opportunity for Australian businesses to tap into a fast-recovering market. Meanwhile, Australian visitation to Vietnam has surged, with a 42% increase in Australian visitors in 2024 alone, making Australia Vietnam's 10th largest inbound market.
This report uncovers key growth opportunities, explores industry challenges, and highlights areas for deeper collaboration.
