About the program
The The Future of Leadership: Southeast Asia Leadership Program was an initiative of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). It was implemented by the Strategic Development Group with the support of Asialink Education (formerly Asia Education Foundation) at the University of Melbourne.
The program aimed to foster leadership skills and strengthen connections among emerging leaders from Southeast Asia and Australia. Over seven days, the program demonstrated Australia's ongoing commitment to deepening its engagement with Southeast Asia, while celebrating 50 years of partnership between ASEAN and Australia.
Participants came from across the region, including Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste and Vietnam. They brought expertise from various professional backgrounds, such as government, foreign affairs, education and advocacy. The program provided an immersive experience focused on impactful leadership, addressing regional challenges, and promoting innovative approaches.
