On 16 October 2023, 'Emerging nuclear risks: Confrontation and deterrence in Asia and the Pacific' delved into emerging regional areas of nuclear tension and Australia's role and responsibilities within this dynamic. The webinar featured insights from experts such as the former Director-General of the Australian Safeguards and Non-Proliferation Office, John Carlson AM, Dr. Fiona Cunningham from the University of Pennsylvania, and Sam Roggeveen, the Director of the Lowy Institute’s International Security Program.
