Course details

This customised course aims to enhance the language proficiency of diplomats and government representatives for effective diplomatic interactions with various Chinese stakeholders. Using a comprehensive approach, the course develops advanced skills including reading comprehension, vocabulary expansion, listening comprehension across diverse Chinese accents, composition of written and spoken discourse, proficient speech delivery and the adept handling of questions.  

Participants will engage in real-time analysis and commentary on current Chinese issues, fostering nuanced understanding and effective communication strategies. Weekly tasks involve thematic reading assignments, active listening and response to Chinese media, and preparation of structured written addresses. These themes cover contemporary topics such as China's policy developments, regional dynamics, sensitive political issues, bilateral trade relations, cultural insights through ancient literature and idiomatic expressions.  

The course is designed for flexible scheduling with a suggested intensity of two hours daily (10 hours weekly) over eight weeks. However, the course structure can be personalised according to your preferences.
