  • DUNLOP ASIA MEDAL

The Dunlop Asia Medal is awarded by Asialink to individuals with an outstanding record of achievement in improving Australia-Asia relations and enhancing the quality of life in the region. The Medal provides recognition and support for exemplary Australians committed to excellence in both their vocations and their contributions to Australia-Asia relations.

This year's dinner will feature the annual Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop Lecture, presentation of the prestigious Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop Asialink Medal and celebrate Asialink's 30th Anniversary.

Her Excellency The Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria will deliver the Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop Asia Lecture.

The Sir Edward 'Weary' Dunlop Asia Lecture was inaugurated in 1993, by the then-Prime Minister of Australia, Paul Keating, to commemorate the life of the late Lieutenant Colonel Sir Ernest Edward 'Weary' Dunlop, AC, CMG, OBE (1907-1993), one of Australia's most revered citizens and a pioneer of Australia-Asia relations. Others who have previously delivered the lecture include former Prime Ministers the Hon. Malcolm Turnbull QC, the Hon. Kevin Rudd AC, and the Hon. John Howard.

We are also delighted to advise that the 2019 Dunlop Medallists, to be announced on the evening, will be leaders in our arts and cultural sector.
