In conversation with Nigel Warren, CSIRO Executive Director Growth 

As the national research agency, CSIRO plays a significant role in Australia’s international engagement and provides valuable advice that supports decision-making across the Government’s international engagement agenda. CSIRO has a long history of collaborating with Asian countries on a broad range of projects, specifically with China for 40 years.

Nigel Warren is Executive Director Growth(a/g) at CSIRO, responsible for leading CSIRO’s global growth agenda and the development of global strategy, programs, partnerships and operations. He manages CSIRO's global network of offices across North and South America and South East Asia. Under the leadership of Nigel, CSIRO intimately work with key government and private enterprises throughout South East Asia on projects in areas including food security, agriculture, aquaculture, water management, biosecurity, disaster management, energy, climate variability, mining technology and health.

Prior to joining CSIRO, Nigel was Australia’s Consul-General in San Francisco California, leading Trade, Investment and Consular programs on behalf of Australia from 2009-2015.

In this event aimed at early to mid-career young professionals, Ali Moore, Journalist and Broadcaster, Vice- Chancellor's Fellow at The University of Melbourne will engage with Nigel Warren on a wide variety of topics including:

  • Insight into his executive role at CSIRO
  • CSIRO’s strategy and successful examples of innovation, international collaborations and research commercialization, particularly in an Asian context
  • Career advice on professional development drawing on his cross-culture life and work experience
