China’s Greater Bay Area – the next Silicon Valley?
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) which accommodates 68 million people with a total GDP output of US$1.4 trillion has been identified as an emerging commercial powerhouse to rival Silicon Valley. The GBA Initiative is a national plan supported by President Xi Jinping with the aim of developing the region’s economic integration. With local government and corporations’ support in financial infrastructure, policies and regulations, this initiative has opened up opportunities to stimulate career progression and business activities.
With more accessible markets, greater commercial synergies and a huge flow of talent, the innovation and e-commerce sectors within the region are actively reshaping the global economy. Cutting-edge technologies enable investors and business people everywhere to easily pursue more cross-border business opportunities with emerging e-commerce platforms, digital payments and banking services.
However, several challenges have arisen alongside the rise of the GBA and its e-commerce industry, such as taxation, subsidised housing, intellectual property and access to legal advice.
Asialink Business in collaboration with Macquarie University is delighted to invite you to attend this event. Our panellists will explore how the GBA initiative can be an outstanding support to your business within the region and how to strategically respond to the opportunities and challenges arising from the fast-growing e-commerce sector.
