Please join us on 8 July, 2022 from 4:30PM as we launch ‘Happy Together: Bridging the Australia-China Divide’, the new account of two parallel lives from esteemed Australian and Chinese scholars Prof. David Walker AM and Prof. Li Yao.

According to the Chinese zodiac both writers are “Roosters” – one born in Inner Mongolia and one in South Australia. Their stories illuminate contrasting national and family histories revealing the power of cross-cultural friendship.

In a discussion moderated by Asialink Senior Adviser and UNSW Emeritus Professor Louise Edwards, David will sit down to discuss his new book and why cross-cultural friendship is now more powerful than ever before.

We will also be joined by an esteemed panel of guests:

Professor the Hon Gareth Evans AC QC FASSA FAIIA Former Minister for Foreign Affairs; Former Chancellor, the Australian National University.

Dr Tseen Khoo, La Trobe University.

Emeritus Professor Graeme Davison AO, Monash University.

Join us for this lively discussion on the current state of Australia-China relations, and the road back to the close relationship our countries previously enjoyed.
