Phuong Uyen Tran is the Deputy CEO of Tan Hiep Phat (THP Group), Vietnam’s biggest FMCG food and beverage company. THP produces over a billion litres of beverages annually and exports to 16 overseas markets, including Australia. To achieve this remarkable growth,  the company has taken a strong localisation approach within the context of a global market development strategy. In 2012, THP turned down a potential partnership offer of $2.5 billion from multinational giant, Coca Cola.

Join us as Phuong shares her extraordinary story, and we discuss how Western multinationals need to adapt and come up with new strategies to compete and engage in today’s competitive global markets. Phuong will explain why the key strength in successful multinational business is market localisation in a globalised world – backed by international standards. Western multinationals need to stay relevant in rapidly evolving markets with expert players in localisation who have strong, engaged business cultures, and have mastered leverage and scaling.

Phuong will also preview her upcoming book Competing With Giants, which explores these complex business issues and demonstrates that a mixture of Asian cultural values, strong localisation and adherence to international standards are  essential while doing business in and with Asia.
