21st Century Peace and Harmony: An Interfaith Journey with Dr. Dino Patti Djalal

Join Dr. Dino Patti Djalal and Rabbi Avraham Bart for a public lecture on the 1000 Abrahamic Circles Project (1000AC), an independent and grassroots interfaith peace effort. They will explore how 1000AC brings together Jewish, Muslim and Christian faith leaders from three different countries to spend a week in each of their communities, directly observing each other’s way of life to build understanding and mutual respect. 1000AC has successfully conducted three circles involving religious leaders from Indonesia, Australia, the United States, Sri Lanka, Serbia and New Zealand.

This lecture will be held in the Yasuko Hiraoka Myer Room at the Sidney Myer Asia Centre at The University of Melbourne.

Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, a former Indonesian diplomat, is a bestselling author, accomplished academic, youth activist, and leader of the Indonesian diaspora community. He served as Indonesia’s ambassador to the United States from 2010 - 2013 and Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs from June–October 2014. He retired from government in 2015 and founded the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI), an independent non-government non-political non-partisan non-profit forum on international relations. He founded 1000 Abrahamic Circles in 2018.

Rabbi Avraham (Avi) Bart serves the Caulfield Hebrew Congregation in Melbourne. He has been involved in several Jewish communal, social and charitable organisations and serves as Australian director of youth group Bnei Akiva. Rabbi Avi joined 1000 Abrahamic Circles in November 2019, when he travelled with an Indonesian Imam and a Catholic Priest from Sri Lanka.
