Queer Identities Across Asia: Celebrating Pride 2023

Key activists, leaders and academics from across the region will come together to discuss the realization of queer rights across the region, indigenous understandings of queerness, connections between communities across Asia and Australia and what their future might hold, and the significance of events such as World Pride being held in the Southern Hemisphere.

In celebration and recognition of World Pride 2023 in Sydney, the first in the Southern Hemisphere, Asialink hosted a webinar which will invite a diverse range of voices to bring awareness to queer experiences in Asia and Australia. This webinar is the first in a series of webinars that Asialink is planning to host throughout the year to touch on key topics and issues across the Indo-Pacific.

On February 23rd, Asialink hosted Queer Advisor and Board Member for City of Port Phillip and Switchboard Victoria, James Seow, Professor of Gender Studies from The University of Hong Kong, Brenda Rodriguez Alegre, PhD, and author of "Intimate Assemblages: The Politics of Queer Identities and Sexualities in Indonesia,' Hendri Yulius Wijaya, to discuss the diverse perspectives of Queer people across the Asia Pacific.Webinar Speakers
