'Happy Together' by Emeritus Professor of history David Walker

Asialink had the joy of launching Happy Together: Bridging the Australia-Divide, by Australian Professor David Walker and Chinese Professor Li Yao, on July 8th of 2022. The double autobiography tells the intertwined stories of Prof. Walker, growing up in South Australia, and Prof. Yao, being raised in Inner Mongolia, as each grapples with their own national identity while exploring foreign culture - all occurring in the context of a changing international relationship between Australia and China.

The event featured insightful remarks from an insightful panel, including former foreign minister the Hon. Prof. Gareth Evans, professor of research education and development at La Trobe University Dr. Tseen Khoo, and expert in Australian national identity Emeritus Professor Graeme Davidson.

The panel was chaired by Asialink Senior Advisor and Emeritus Professor of Chinese History at UNSW, Prof. Louise Edwards, who delivered welcoming remarks alongside Asialink Group CEO Martine Letts.
