Aly de Groot, Annabel Amagula and Maicie Lalara have been working together on Groote Eylandt since 2015, weaving with marine debris that washes up on their beaches from Indonesia and all over the world. As artists in residence at Komunitas Salihara, the three will creatively address the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans through their weaving project, workshops and exhibitions. This project will continue the long history of exchange between Anindilyakwa and Indonesian people.

Joshua Allen is a producer and writer with Southeast Asian heritage working in contemporay performance. He is a 2019 Australia Council Future Leader and participated in the Asian Producers Platform Camp 2018 hosted in Indonesia. Josh was previously an Associate Artist at Theatreworks and has worked with organisations throughout Australia and the UK including: Chunky Move, Next Wave, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, Gate Theatre, Battersea Arts Centre and Edinburgh Fringe. While in Jakarta, Josh will research non-western dramaturgies and performance works, engage with artists, and support the presentation of Festival Salihara.

    Mona Zahra Attamimi is an emerging poet.  She has studied under the acclaimed Australian poet, Judith Beveridge. She has been published in Southerly, Meanjin, Westerly. She has read her poetry at regular events, performed at the Sydney Writer’s Festival, and translated Indonesian poetry.  Currently, she is writing her first collection, poems about fractured roots, dislocation, reimagining mythologies through a feminist perspective. At Common Room-Bandung, she hopes to build connections and draw attention to poetry as a vehicle that elevates our humanity.  She will develop her manuscript and explore the religious-spiritual terrain of her grandfather’s homeland of Bandung, West Java.

    Eugene Ughetti is the founding artistic director of Speak Percussion. Eugene won the inaugural Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship (2012), MCA/Freedman Fellowship for Classical Music (2011), and various national Art Music Awards for his work with Speak Percussion.  Thomas Meadowcroft is an established composer of significant standing in Australia and internationally. Thomas's work has been performed at prominent venues and festivals for contemporary music throughout the world. Eugene and Thomas are collaborating with artists from three Asian nations on a contemporary music performance that will act as cultural commentary on possible geo-political futures in South-East Asia.
