Exchanges
Who can participate?
Educators from Indonesia, India, Thailand and Korea are able to participate in exchange programs to enhance their understanding of contemporary Australian society and education whilst being hosted by an Australian educator. Participants for these programs are selected through our partners in-country and are usually sponsored by an Australian Government agency (see below). Programs on offer
The Australia-Indonesia School BRIDGE (Building Relationships through Intercultural Dialogue and Growing Engagement) Project is a new initiative of the Australia-Indonesia Institute and the Asia Education Foundation, funded by The Myer Foundation. The program aims to increase Australian student's knowledge and understanding of Indonesia, particularly the role of Islam in contemporary Indonesian society and further Indonesian student's knowledge and understanding of contemporary Australia.
Australia-India Teacher Exchange is sponsored by the Australia-India Council and is implemented in partnership with Australian Education International, New Delhi. This is a reciprocal exchange in which both Australian and Indian educators/schools host their international counterparts. This exchange offers Australian and Indian educators opportunities to learn about each other’s society, culture, people and history through homestay and professional learning activities.
Australia-Korea Teacher Exchange is sponsored by the Australia-Korea Foundation and is implemented in partnership with Chungbuk National University, Korea and KATA (alumni of past Korean participants). This is a reciprocal exchange in which both Australian and Korean educators/schools host their international counterparts. This exchange offers Australian and Korean educators opportunities to learn about each other’s society, culture, people and history through homestay and professional learning activities.
Australia-Thailand Teacher Exchange is sponsored by the Australia-Thailand Institute and is implemented in partnership with Australian Education International, Bangkok and the Thai Ministry of Education. This program offers Thai educators opportunities to learn about Australian society, culture, people and history through homestay and professional learning activities.
Past Exchanges
Cross-Cultural Linkages: Australia and Indonesia was sponsored by the Australia-Indonesia Institute and implemented in partnership with Australian Education International (AEI), Jakarta and the Indonesian Ministry of National Education. This program offered Australian and Indonesian educators opportunities to learn about each other’s society, culture, people and history through homestay and professional learning activities.
Can I host an Asian educator?
Australian educators are able to host an Indonesian, Indian, Thai or Korean educator as part of our inbound exchanges. This is a great opportunity for you and your school to open your classes to Asia through personal interactions.
Register your interest by sending an email with your name, contact details, year level and learning area taught, school information and your home situation (e.g. married with two children, single etc).
