Linking Latitudes India Conference and Fieldwork Program
The AEF's Linking Latitudes India Conference and Fieldwork Program occurred over 21-days including the 5-day conference program in Delhi and Agra and 11 pre and post-conference fieldwork programs to 25 cities and towns. The conference held from September 30 to October 4, 2007 involved over 360 primary and secondary teachers and principals, teacher educators and education bureaucrats from Australia, India and New Zealand.
Delegates visited the capital of the world's largest democracy, celebrated Mahatma Gandhi's birthday, viewed the majestic Taj Mahal and met with local students, teachers and principals.
Key features included:
- 43 visits to key businesses, non-government organisations and cultural and historical sites across India
- 58 speakers from Australia, India and the USA
- Presentations by the Australian Ambassador HE Mr John McCarthy and The Hon Mrs Daggubiti Purandareswari, Minister of State for Human Resource Development as well as eminent academics such as Mr P Sainath, The Hindu, Mr Kaarthikeyan, the City of Melbourne and Dr Manoj Joshi, Mail Today.
