Shanghai
Shanghai (上海 Shànghǎi), with a population of more than 23 million is the largest and traditionally the most developed metropolis and financial hub of Mainland China.

Chengdu
The capital of Sichuan Province, Chengdu (成都 Chéngdū) is best known as the home of China's pandas. A major center for business, education and industry, the city has retained many temples, historical sites and houses the Jinsha Museum which shelters the anicent remains of a settlement dating from 2700BC.

Chongqing
Chongqing (重庆; Chóngqìng) is the biggest inland city in China with a population of 30 million and is one of 4 municipalities along with Beijing, Shanghai and Tainjin that reports directly to the Central Government. Chongqing is the launching point for boat trips down the Yangtze River through the Three Gorges Dam. The Buddhist Dazu Rock Carvings are located three hours west of Chongqing City in the outlying Chongqing Municipality and is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Chongqing has a strong dock culture associated with water transportation and is home to the distinctive Bayu culture and Sichuan Opera. It also has a vibrant arts scene based around the Sichuan Academy of Fine Art in Huangjueping.

Guangzhou

Pingyao
The ancient walled city of Pingyao (平遥 Píng yáo) provides artists with the opportunity to visit a series of grand residencies set in an historical precint. Pingyao is a wonderful place to roam the narrow stone cobbled street and stay overnight in a traditional courtyard house in a ‘kang’ bed. Pingyao is a day trip from Beijing by fast train. Pingyao is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and hosts an annual International Photo Festival in early September.

Shenzhen
